Our Initiative

Girls Loving Ourselves Worldwide (GLOW) is a Let Our Voices Echo (LOVE) Project - (Syracuse) - Initiative.  Every girl in this world deserves to know and understand that she is valued and valuable. 

With a focus on, but not limited to, black and brown girls, grades 5 - 12, the GLOW Initiative engages girls worldwide in evidence-based strategies that align with the five inter-related competencies of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework. The participants commit to engaging in projects and programming that utilizes innovative, effective, fun and engaging strategies to promote:

1. Self- Love (CASEL: Self-awareness, Self-management and Responsible decision-making)

2. Sisterhood (CASEL: Relationship skills and Social awareness)

3. Service (CASEL: Social awareness and Responsible decision-making) 

4. Suitable Images in Media (CASEL: Self-awareness and Responsible decision-making).

Participants meet throughout the year to: (1) engage in age-appropriate, culturally relevant self-development activities and training, (2) participate in leadership development,  relationship and team building training, (3) work collectively to develop service projects that impact their respective communities, and (4) develop media campaigns and materials that promote positive images of black and brown girls worldwide.
